Fifteen communities across the UK celebrated the festive season with a series of Community Carol Services, one of which was held in St Mary’s on Tuesday, 9th December .
Part of an annual initiative spearheaded by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales to recognise and thank the many people around the country who contribute to a more cohesive and connected society, the events are supported by The Royal Foundation Of The Prince And Princess Of Wales.
Schools and voluntary organisations across Erewash were invited to the event which featured bands, choirs and soloists. Among them were members of Chaucer Junior School’s Choir who performed with other schools as part of the Embark Federation Choir. After the service the children were delighted to find Santa Claus on his sleigh outside the church handing out presents.
