Getting Married at St Mary’s

We are pleased you are thinking about getting married at St Mary’s church. Your wedding day will be a wonderful and special occasion, and we would love to be able to help you make the day even more memorable and enjoyable.

You are welcome to marry in church whatever your beliefs, whether or not you have been christened and whether or not you go to church. Today more than a quarter of all couples choose the traditional setting of a Church of England church and research suggests that couples marrying in church are very satisfied with the service they receive.

There are certain rules about who can marry in a particular church and you can find out more about these on the Church of England wedding pages.

At St Mary’s we are happy to consider marrying those who have been married previously and have a former spouse still living. If this applies to you the Vicar will need to talk with you about the past, your hopes for the future and your understanding of marriage.

You will find lots more information on getting married in Church at The Church of England website.
